Diaskari beach

Diaskari is a small settlement located on the outskirts of the village of Pefkoi, 27 km east of Ierapetra and very close to Makrigialos. To the east, there is a large beach with sand and crystal clear waters, but you need to be careful when entering the sea because in some places it has large smooth rocks that slide. It is wonderful and quiet, with a fantastic sea view, a long beach and not crowded. You could enjoy your meal or dinner at the only tavern there is available.

You can isolate yourself in its eastern part, next to the hill of Vigla, which separates Diaskari from the quiet beach of Lagada to the east. A Late Minoan city with important buildings believed to have a naval tradition has been located on Vigla since 1972, as the Karavospilios cave below Vigla was probably a shipyard. The name Diaskari according to local testimonies comes from the patrons of the ancient city who were the sons of Zeus, the Dioscuri (Zeus + Kouros).
